Between illuminations and winter activities, the Bleu de Grenelle hotel welcomes you for your stay in Paris in December 2022.

Christmas holidays 2022

Rare are the French who do not take a well-deserved holiday at the end of the year. Between Christmas and New Year, it is indeed the ideal time to party, enjoy the holidays, and gather around the people you love. This year, the school holidays take place from December 17, 2022 to January 3, 2023, and children and adults alike take advantage of this period to have stars in their eyes.

But rather than staying at home or enjoying a ski holiday with the family, why not experience an exceptional Christmas by discovering the beauty of the streets and monuments of Paris illuminated and shining with a thousand lights? The Bleu de Grenelle hotel invites you to experience Christmas like you've never experienced it before, residing in the heart of the capital.

Visit Paris during the 2022 winter holidays

Every year, Paris puts on its festive clothes so that the magic of Christmas operates and makes the eyes of walkers shine. The magical atmosphere is then found in the streets, but also in the sites and monuments of the city, where the activities and events offer you the possibility of experiencing exceptional parties.

Christmas illuminations

Throughout the month of December, the streets of Paris light up for Christmas, and the different districts take on a festive look, where it is pleasant to stroll. If the weather is right, then walk the avenues like the small streets of the capital, and immerse yourself in this festive and warm atmosphere.

And how to enjoy the illuminations of Paris without taking a walk on the avenue des Champs-Élysées? The most beautiful avenue in the world is adorned with its finery from November 22, 2022, and until January 9, 2023. But you will also be dazzled by Montmartre's Christmas decorations, the giant Christmas tree on the forecourt of the Notre-Dame cathedral, the Christmas village on the forecourt of La Défense, the magic of Christmas at the Tuileries, or even at the Fééries d'Auteuil.

The windows of Paris department stores at Christmas

As you stroll through Paris, you will be guided by the glittering decorations of the streets and the many shops. Then let your steps take you past the biggest stores in Paris (Galeries Lafayette, BHV, Printemps...), where the windows compete in beauty and originality.

The Christmas atmosphere is assured and puts stars in the eyes of young and old alike! From the Marais district to Saint Germain des Près, via Boulevard Haussmann, let yourself be seduced and experience a magical journey into the magic of Christmas.

The skating rinks of Paris

Among the Christmas clichés found in all Christmas TV movies, the skating rink is a magical place to spend a sporting and magical moment, illuminated by the lights of the city. Live the moment intensely by letting yourself slide, trying a few tricks to the sound of Christmas music, and end your sports session with a good hot chocolate. Several open-air ice rinks will open their doors to you in Paris in December 2022:

  • The ice rink in the Nave of the Grand Palais (open at night);
  • The ice rink in front of the Hôtel de Ville (open at night on Fridays and Saturdays until midnight);
  • The Eiffel On Ice, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower;
  • The Christmas ice rink, on the roofs of Galeries Lafayette.

Christmas markets in Paris

Obviously, the end of year celebrations also rhyme with the Christmas markets, which immerse you in the magical atmosphere of New Year's Eve and allow you to do some shopping for the occasion. From November 2022, the chalets are set up in various places in the capital, and invite you to start preparing for Christmas:

  • The Notre-Dame Christmas market;
  • The Halles Christmas market;
  • La Défense Christmas market;
  • The Tuileries Christmas market...
