Paris Photo at the ephemeral Grand Palais

The Paris Photo Fair

The ephemeral Grand Palais will host the Paris Photo fair for 4 days. This 24th edition of the international fair dedicated to photography is an opportunity to meet the greatest artists, and discover and admire global trends.

A true tribute to creation, Paris Photo brings together more than 200 exhibitors each year. Gallerists, artists and publishers from around the world come to exhibit their work to the general public.

This year again, the fair will be organized in several sectors. Among the different spaces, some have already been revealed to us:

A space will host 150 galleries from all over the world, to exhibit historical and contemporary works revealing the diversity of photography. Emerging talents and big names in photography will rub shoulders there;

  • The Curiosa sector will present 15 projects by emerging artists, selected by Shoair Mavlian, the director of Photoworks;
  • The EllexParis Photo sector promotes the visibility of women artists, and will honor the place of women in the history of photography.
  • Photo lovers will then be able to discover the different spaces, but also take part in exhibitions, or discussions led by the artists themselves.

The ephemeral Grand Palais

Each year, Paris Photo is organized in the Grand Palais. But this year, the renovation works of this high place of culture in Paris required some adjustments. Paris Photo will therefore take place at the ephemeral Grand Palais. This temporary exhibition hall took place on the Champ-de-Mars, facing the majestic Eiffel Tower, and opened its doors on June 12, 2021. It should remain there until 2024, the scheduled date for the reopening of the Grand Palace.

This 10,000 m² ephemeral structure, designed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte and built by GL events, was then intended to host major cultural events. Thus, some important dates have already taken place, such as the International Forum Bois Construction in July 2021. The ephemeral Grand Palais, also called "Arena Champ-de-Mars", will also host the judo and wrestling events of the Games. 2024 Summer Olympics.
