Bleu de Grenelle introduces you to the theaters of Paris 15

Categories : Discover Paris, published on : 4/5/23

The cultural richness of the city of Paris comes from the monuments, but it is also fed by the theaters and the events organized throughout the year. If you plan to stay at the Hotel de Bleu de Grenelle, here is a selection of theaters in Paris 15 where you will find a varied program.

Le Grand Point Virgule : an atypical and warm theater in Paris 15

Located at 8 bis de la rue de l'Arrivée, in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, the Grand Point Virgule is a recent and modern theater, built in 2012. Two auditoriums have replaced an old cinema, and many artists perform there each year, young talents as well as big names.

Located in the heart of the Marais, at the foot of the Montparnasse tower, this theater offers two rooms with 430 and 220 seats respectively. It offers a varied program: comedy, humor, musicals, shows for children...

Cirque Bormann: a circus in the heart of the 15th arrondissement of Paris

The traditional circus is probably the type of show which knows how to delight young and old since the dawn of time. The Bormann Circus, in the rue Lucien Bossoutrot, is one of the most popular venues in the 15th district of Paris. There, the 7th generation of the Bormann family welcomes you all year long to attend amazing and funny acts: balance, burlesque, juggling, clowning, visual acts...

The big top, installed all year round, can accommodate up to 1,000 people and immerse spectators in an authentic and baroque atmosphere. The premises can even be privatized for personal or professional events, and more than 500 place settings can be installed for the occasion.

The Dome of Paris

The Dome of Paris is none other than the Palais des Sports. If it was renamed in 2015, many continue to call it that. And if this name endures, it is because it is an integral part of the cultural world of Paris. Since 1960, this hall has hosted up to 4,000 people in a stunning setting. The arena shape offers a human dimension and an excellent visibility, appreciated by the spectators, but especially by the artists who perform there.

And contrary to what the name suggests, the Palais des Sports, or Dôme de Paris, does not only host sporting events. You can also attend plays, concerts, and all kinds of musical shows. All the big names of the French and international scene have trodden the boards of this showroom in the 15th arrondissement: Johnny Hallyday, Dalida, Mylène Farmer, Gad Elmaleh, Florence Foresti, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles...

The Dome is also an architectural landmark, and impresses with its huge self-supporting light alloy dome. It is the largest dome of its kind in the world.

Espace Paris Plaine : the theater for young audiences in Paris 15

Not far from the Porte de Vanves, the Espace Paris Plaine is a Parisian cultural space entirely dedicated to young audiences. Part of one of the 5 Anim Paris centers, this Italian-style theater in the 15th arrondissement can accommodate up to 280 people.

This small hall on the rue du Général-Guillaumat was founded in the 1970s and offers a varied program for children: puppets, circus, theater, musicals, songs...

Theater La Croisée des Chemins : small intimate Parisian theater

The theater La Croisée des Chemins is made up of two small, intimate performance spaces. The first, La Petite Croisée des Chemins, is located in the rue Mathurin Régnier, in the 15th arrondissement. This small 35-seat venue was founded in 2016 to promote live performance and young talent, around a very eclectic program.

The second venue, the Salle Belleville, was inaugurated in 2020, in the 19th arrondissement. This 49-seat venue follows in the footsteps of its big sister, the Petite Croisée des Chemins, with similar ambitions and programming.
